So, oddly enough, while I have been on "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" and before my "Snow-globe" got broken, I have enjoyed my great love of horses.
The photos above represent a span of 20 years in my life, in horse time. The first photo is of me aboard my great love, Tuesday's Tea aka Polo Bunny taken in September of 1989. Polo was a great horse and a better teacher of the "skills-to-be-learned" course, including, You and Your Off the Track Thoroughbred, The Green Hunter, Go Only When in GroupsMonsters Are Everywhere, OMG, That Boulder Moved, and the well know copy of, Bucking Thru the Woods.
Polo taught me so much and I taught him so much. We made a great team and we went far and had fun. Polo died in my arms one cold January in late afternoon. I told him I loved him and thank you for a wonderful ride! I told him it was okay and he was a good boy and that he could rest now.  He closed is eyes and let out a gentle moan or a sigh, I don't know, but, then the was gone. We shared 22 years together. Half of my then 44 years and most of his 26 years.
The bay was my next mount. Bushido Kruz - he was a rescue. Retired race horse that went on to be an accomplished Grand Prix Jumper.
traveling the Texas - Florida HITTS and such.... until he received a horrific injury to one of his hind legs. No one could/would tell me what happened or even when but the scar has quite a story to tell. He was donated to Mount Holyoke College for the riding program. Mt. Holyoke called me one day to see if I had room for another (one of their) horses. They had a large TB gelding that was not sound enough to continue in their program. (i.e. too much HORSE for their program)
The last photo is me, 6 months after my life changing crash, taken November 2009.
I must say I have had an awesome blast riding horses! From the very first lesson I took in a small dusty ring on that trustworthy school horse. All those days I went trail riding with a friend or just my and my appy mare. The first horse show - the first ribbon - the first BLUE ribbon - that little smile I was told to give the judge... I had a great time as a youngster growing up with horses. I grew up riding in a Thoroughbred breeding stable. I was around trainers, and grooms, exercise riders. The farm was owned by a woman. Just a woman - her name was Jane.  ( to be continued.... )
